Owen made me a taco!!!

I cannot forget to write about my taco that Owen made me.,,, While I was working yesterday, Greg was making us some dinner. He and Owen were upstairs making hard shell tacos. Greg came downstairs and when he went back up Owen was standing on a chair, and had taken a shell and put it in a bowl. As Greg got there, he was putting the bowl in the microwave. He told Greg he was making mommy a taco. He took the bowl with the taco shell out of the microwave and carefully carried it downstairs to me. (Then he ate the taco). I WAS SO HAPPY! How cute is that!

Kindermusik

We started our music class!! Last Wednesday we went to our first class. I am not sure who was more nervous, me or O. I have no idea why I was nervous. I have serious anxiety problems. Owen had a great time. We sang songs, danced, played with sticks and read a book full of actions. At first he was a little unsure of the whole experience. He sat on my lap and watched everyone sing (mostly the parents at this point). It wasn't long until he was up and dancing. However...while he was up and dancing he saw my purse sitting on the chair - ALONE. He was beside himself and became insistent upon saving my purse from being left at the class. He is very protective of everyone's things and likes things to be just how they are. I tried to assure him I would not leave my purse there. He had to go and get it. So, all of the kids are playing with sticks, listening to music and he is off saving my purse. He brought it over to me and I set it next to the wall. That was still too scary and he brought my purse next to me. I had to keep it close to us through the rest of the class. Anytime he saw it sitting alone, he would yell out Mommy Purt! and run to get it. (He does this with everything, no one can touch or hold anything that doesn't belong to them and he is always afraid someone will leave their stuff behind). Once my purse was secure, he had fun again. I think he will really enjoy the class. He loves music and loves learning. It is a 15 week program.

I was hoping that we would make some friends for him in the class. We found two! Two of the little boys in the class get together for play dates, their mom's said they would call me sometime to get together. This past Sunday, they called. Now my social anxiety really set in and I was as nervous to go a playdate as I was to go to Court..ha ha ha. We were brave and met at the park yesterday to play with Aspen and Eli. We had a good time. He wasn't ready to play yet, but he watched the boys and as long as I was holding his hand, he was happy. They were throwing rocks and he was taking my jacket and hiding it in the dirt. Hopefully we will be invited again so he can get used to kids. They are having a Halloween party that they said we will be invited to. Our first party!!

We go back to class tomorrow. I am leaving my purse in the car.

Ups and Downs

I spend most days laughing at Owen. He is such a happy baby and seems to enjoy his life. I am so happy and grateful that I get to be his mom. He made me laugh today, I told him it was time to get dressed. He ran away. I found him and told him that I bought him some new clothes. His eyes got really big and he opened his mouth really wide and he ran over to his clothes. I had no idea he would be so excited. I told him we were going to get dressed and he said underwear. He went to Greg's dresser and took out some boxers to wear. He put them on. Now he was ready to get dressed. I convinced him his diaper was good and we put them back. Getting dressed is its own activity of each day.

Yesterday, I remembered again why being a mom can be so hard! We were all ready for bed last night and I turned off the light. He told me he was going to turn the light on. I told him if he turned the light on he would have to to his room by himself. He stood by the light switch for about 8 minutes and then finally turned it on. I told him we were going to his room. He turned it off and said "dark, mommy happy". I again said we were going to his room. His little face was smiling so big when he first did it, he loves to tease me, and as he saw I was serious, it fell and actually looked so scared. I was crushed! I took him to his room and he kept saying, "light oss, dark, no mommy". ..hmmm, perhaps it wasn't that big of a deal. I decided to take him to the room. We went in and I put him on his bed, he was so sad. He stayed and cried for 10 minutes. I went in and he said he was sorry. I still can't get the look on his face out of my head!!

Greg played baseball again this year. After many games he is done playing for the season, in fact he told Angie's boyfriend that he plans on doing some work during the "off season". I am sure that as the word flew out of his mouth and he looked around and saw my sister and I sitting there, he realized that he should have had that conversation without us . To use the word off season is just begging for me to tease him. I cannot help myself.

Tomorrow is Ben's three year anniversary for being sober!!! I am so proud of him..HOORAY BEN.

The Yoga Begins!!

So, I have no idea what I am doing, but from the constant urging of Heather that this is easy and the fact that I love reading Heather's stuff, I decided it was time. We are loving it up here in Washington and having a wonderful time. Greg is still working at People's Bank as a credit analyst (I still have no idea what he does). I am still trying to work as much as possible, but Owen makes it very hard. I spend most of my day trying to entertain him, and a good portion of that is riding the lawn mower.

For those who don't know, Owen is obsessed with the lawn mower, he spends all the time asking to ride the "mere mere". We are still living with my dad up here and he has a big 5 acre yard with a big pond. We drive out to the pond and look for frogs and snakes. He loves it. For his birthday he got a little lawn mower he can drive himself from his Grandpa, he drives it himself and parks in the garage. He and Greg chase the dogs around the yard. Hopefully we have a good winter so I won't freeze to death while we ride - not riding is NOT an option.

I found out today that Angie and I have our first official yoga class starting next week. We had to have a minimum of 4 people and we have 5!! HOORAY. We start teaching next Thursday. The first step to having our own studio. We are both a little nervous, but we figure we can go to court and counsel people about their entire lives and save homes from foreclosure so we can teach a little yoga.
I also start a music class with Owen next Wednesday. It is a 12 week course with Kindermusik. We get to go together and sing and dance to songs, we have home materials to play with. It is supposed to be a good program and hopefully he will be able to make some friends. He could really use to find some 2 year old friends. He gets to play with my little brother Robee all the time (he is 8), but now that school is back in, he gets lonely. Hopefully I won't want to die participating in his class :) I would do it anyway though.

We just got back a few days ago from our annual fair trip! Love the Utah State Fair. All of us up here (everyone but Emilee), headed back to Utah for the gathering at the Fair. We ate like pigs like usual and had a wonderful time. The best part of the trip was Emilee's new car that fits her kids and me and Owen - we were able to hang out and go places!! HOORAY for big cars.

Greg missed the fair trip, although he didn't care. He headed off to Iowa with his dad and brother and some friends to see the Hawkeyes play. They fit in 2 Cubs games and a Whitesox game as well. He saw his old town and I reminded him we will never move there. He brought Owen back two Hawkeye's shirts, Owen spent all day yesterday and the night and most of today in the shirt. He loves sports like his dad. Greg already has him doing sit-ups and push-ups. I think he was up to 10 today. He says next year Owen will be running laps.

Owen and I do yoga together every night on our mats. I am posting some of our pictures.
Well, I think Heather was right! This is kind of fun and easy. I think I may even do it again. :)
